Top 5 Art Pick’s for Kid’s Rooms – June
June Art for Kid’s Rooms
Art is a truly wonderful way to bring character to our homes and this should be no different in our kid’s bedrooms. Pick images that you hope will inspire them, that can set a certain mood and also allow them to choose pieces that represent different aspects of their personality and finally just find images they like to look at. Each month we offer a helping hand with our monthly top five suggestions – Here’s June, sorry we missed May, bit distracted by Issue 10 and Covid.
Kicking off with the top art pick from the latest issue of Rooomy Magazine (The Nursery Edition)
There have been rainbows everywhere during lockdown, the perfect visual antidote to all that has been going on around us. This beautiful illustration from Bear and Bloom is perfect for any home right now. It will spread joy, positivity, hope and dreaminess throughout.
Most rainbows have been big bold and beautiful, do not get me wrong I love all things bold, however there is always room for other styles and also I like to meet other peoples art needs not just my own. What I love about this piece is the details of the flowers, stars and leaves. Manifesting the thoughts of summer, growth and blooming, just what we need right now.
Who misses swimming? I do! Mermaids are wonderful mythical creatures, Disney has made them cute and adorable but traditionally they are dangerous, even murderous.
These ladies here simply look like they are having a wonderful time being free in the water among the reeds and either exploring or playing together but most important of all, they are together, I miss my friends do you?
Available unframed, framed or on canvas.
You know where to go to find out how much a whale weigh don’t you? A Whale Weigh Station. Sorry that was my husband in my ear and then of course I couldn’t resist adding it, we all need the humour right now, however dad esq it is.
Anyway, continuing along the much-loved rainbow theme, here’s a beauty from the deep. But maybe you’re a bit rainbow arched out, maybe your child actually isn’t a fan, then this friendly creature from the deep could be a welcome addition for them, with a touch of rainbow magic, just the right amount in fact.
“Blackbird singing in the dead of night, Take these broken wings and learn to fly, All your life, You were only waiting for this moment to arise”
Did you know this song before you saw Boss Baby? Have you even seen Boss Baby? Love that film, love this song, and have always loved The Beatles.
Don’t get caught up in art for kids having to be bright and bold and jolly, if sweet shop aesthetics are not to your liking then don’t force it, shop around for lovely little pieces like this, a touch of nature and a little chirpy chappy brings a different kind of joy into a kids space. The detail of the feathers makes him look soft and his little eye makes him look kind and innocent. Perfect for a child’s environment.
Little Letter Studio – Awesome Alphabet Wallhanging
If you’ve seen the latest issue of Rooomy or the wallpaper post from two weeks ago you’ll know that I am a fan the Awesome Alphabet by Little Letter Studio, mostly because I like the Golfing Gorilla, whom I have now named Gerald after my dad, weird really as my dad doesn’t like golf, but I like the name Gerald.
I was thrilled when I saw the wallpaper design had been transformed into a wall hanging, wallpaper is a big commitment, being able to pop this up in your child’s bedroom is of course helpful for this early years, learning to grasp the alphabet but also playful enough for then they are older and thinking about how creative.
It is also available with the option to personalise, perfect for your kid or as a gift.
I hope you enjoyed this months picks, if you have a favourite artist that your kids love, we’d love to hear from you so we can share with our readers. And of course if you’re an artist and would like to feature, simply get in touch!
